Stephen writes about classic era films, film music, television, and books.

What is classic era?

For Stephen, it’s the cult, great, and iconic titles from the pre-1980s.

He grew up loving Star Trek, James Bond films, Doctor Who, and matured into a cineaste and film music lover, who loves classic films, film music, and books from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, and adjacent periods.

He loves the film music of John Barry, Bernard Herrmann, Ennio Morricone, Jerry Goldsmith, Lalo Schifrin, Alex North, Nino Rota, John Williams, James Bernard, and, oh, the list goes on.

In movies, he loves Alfred Hitchcock, Orson Welles, James Bond, Hammer films, genre movies, film noir, and many pre-1980 classics.

In books, he loves Shirley Jackson and M.R. James in particular, and is currently engaged in a retrospective on Shirley Jackson’s short stories.

I write for people who like stuff like that.
